Subject: District 2 Crime update

Ladies and Gentlemen:

First and foremost I want to thank you for the support you have given us by dialing 911 for suspicious persons/activity in your neighborhoods.  The crime in our district decreased overall last year 13.5% featuring a 30% drop in burglaries (185 fewer than 2009) and a 31% drop in car theft (118 fewer than 2009) and a 8% drop in Larcenies (car break-ins and shoplifting) we had a total of 461 fewer crime incidents in the district last year compared to 2009.  Your attention to your community tremendously helped our efforts to decrease crime last year!  Calling 911 works so please continue to call and encourage your kids and neighbors to call when anything or anyone doesn’t fit in your neighborhood.

We are in a new year and we are still at war with the thugs and criminals that want to disrupt and destroy our community by committing crimes.  Thus far we are fighting a good battle and your help is crucial for us to do better this year and have another yearly decrease.  As of today we are 10.1 % lower in total crime as oppose to last year.  We are 5% lower in burglaries, 55% lower in robberies, and 38% lower in car thefts and 4% lower in larcenies (car break-ins/shoplifting).  In the last four weeks we have identified some individuals that I want you to be aware of.  Vacant homes have become targets for individuals wearing hard hats and reflective work vests posing as legitimate workers.  These individuals are burglarizing the homes and stealing air-conditioning units.  We also have identified a group of individuals that don’t live in the district that are committing car break-ins/thefts and burglaries, these individuals are black males ages 16-25 years old and usually travel in groups of three or more riding in stolen vehicles.  We have interrupted these individuals on two occasions in the act however they fled from us at high rates of speed making good their escape.

If you see anyone in your community matching these descriptions make sure you dial 911 and let us respond for investigation.  Continue to “Park Smart” by not leaving personal items such as purses, laptops, GPS systems, luggage …ect, in plain view for the “crooks” to steal, we have been doing a better job with this issue so let’s continue!  Again thank you for the team effort and together I know we will win this war.  We will not let the criminals destroy our communities; they will go before we go!

Respectfully,
Captain Ronnie Robinson
Commander District 2
